San Jacinto
Only 23 miles from Bay RV Park to San Jacinto Monument.

San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site is a destination of significance for the State of Texas. The famous battle of San Jacinto defined Texas as an independent state. This historic landmark attests to the site's national and international importance.

The 1200-acre site commemorates the battle and preserves the Battleground on which Texan troops, under the command of General Sam Houston, defeated a Mexican Army on April 21, 1836.

The site consists of The Battleground, The San Jacinto Monument and Battleship Texas, which in 1948 became the first battleship memorial museum in the United States.

Improvements to the interior of the San Jacinto Monument, including the installation of a sprinkler system, elevator upgrades, and work on the Observation Deck, were recently completed and are now open. For more information check the San Jacinto Museum of History web page or call 281.479.2421.
